Circular Handspun (formerly Khadi)

Circular Handspun (formerly Circular Khadi) is a collaboration between Khadi London, Where Does It Come From?, Conserve India and Khamir Crafts. The pilot phase of the project completed at the end of September 2024, funded by the British Council and UAL (University of the Arts London) as part of their New Landscapes programme.

Phase 1 involved exploring ways of bringing circularity into heritage textile production using waste fabrics.  We successfully proved the concept by producing fibre and fabric samples.

Since Phase 1 our work has been exhibited at the British Council Exhibition in Delhi as well as at Bharat Tex in February 2025.  It will be on display at the British Council’s London exhibition from September 2025.

The second phase is moving the concept towards marketability and replication.  We are seeking partners interested in working with us on technology development and commercialisation.  We already have customer interest in sourcing circular handcrafted fabrics and yarns and are moving forward towards productisation.
